I have had verizon for the last ten years. I have lived in this place called dc for almost a year, which means I have had to spend countless minutes waiting for trains with nothing to do but watch people play with their iPhones. It is especially frustrating working an 11 hour day, getting to the metro and watching the orange line doors close just as my foot hits the bottom step of a broken escalator. Then my friend showed me this app. That the planner and gps tell me how to get to the closest metros was neat. But the real moment was when I discovered that it tells you the arrival times of any train at any metro. I can only compare the feeling to what Harold and Kumar felt when they finally made it to Whitecastle, or perhaps even when they escaped from Guantanamo Bay. For the last three months I have been staring longingly at my calendar for the arrival of the new iPhone 4. I have battled verizon to free me once again from their computer records system "unintentionally" locking me into yet another contract term. Now I have my iPhone and this app. What can I say other than I am happy that I can now prevent precious moments of my life from being taken day by day, minute by minute, escalator by escalator. Seriously, if youre new to the city determined on making life incrementally but inexorably harder on its inhabitants, a dollar is worth it to make it so much easier.

Just got back from two weeks in DC and used this app multiple times per day! Nobody should visit DC without it! Not only is the Metro info extremely well done, but the guide for getting to nearby attractions is worth buying the app for by itself! Well done!

Great app. Especially if youre not familiar with the area. Really couldnt ask for more (except maybe to make it free).

I couldnt get it to give me real time arrivals of circulator buses. So I just bookmarked the free circulator web page on my desktop instead.

The new fare update has been super confusing but this app has been awesome! Love getting the train times. Just an awesome app.

This is by far the best DC Nav App. Great real time metro data and updated often. This version already has the new prices. Great for commuters and probably a must have for any tourist with an iphone. Dont be fooled by some of the low ratings-- theyre probably from its disgruntled competitors. Trust me -- Ive tried them all.

Only use was the static map. Trip planner could be useful if you already know where youre getting on & off. NEVER would show 5 nearest stations (much less walking directions). NEVER could determine my location & I was outside. POI , nor anything else would work. Save your buck, I could have gotten what I did for free. VERY disappointed!

This is a critical application for all metro users!

Excellent app. Uses google maps and located to show closest top five metro stations. However has not been updated for new circulator route to rosalyn. Does not show closest circulator or dc bus stops. Still well worth 99 cents

I was in DC and had a problem with the app, sent an email to the company from the app menu and in about 15-20 minutes I had a response with the fix I needed! Great service, Great app!!

Easy to use - well integrated - and well worth the price.

Everything you wanted to know about getting around mass transit in DC. Loads fast! even on 3G model. Would like to have more than 3 bus stops for bus arrivals feature. Love it!

Not quite perfect but still EXTREMELY useful for anyone in DC. Almost a must-buy.

Unfortunately, there is not currently one single perfect app which meets all the needs of a DC transit junkie. This is one of the best, because it lets you type in the NextBus numbers directly, and it includes the Circulator as well. My only gripe is that it wont let you save more than three bus stops. But other than that, this app is pretty comprehensive. I also use myTransit DC and circ@dc.

Downloaded for trip to DC. App only partially worked. Ive used the Metro system many times before so I was primarily interested in this app for the Favorite Stations and 5 Closest Stations features. These did not work while I was in the DC area. Always got "Unable to determine your location" message. Ended up just using the map that already comes with the iPhone. The trip planner was a nice function and worked well.

As a frequent visitor to DC, I loaded this to my iphone4. It does all it advertises, and the service is excellent. I had an initial problem because the app was not able to find my current location. I did the "about"button on the app, stated my problem and got a solution back within 15 minutes. ( I had not turned the app on in Settings--General). That was real personal service, fast. Locations and directions to the metro AND from the metro to your destination are accurate as are the train arrival times. Well worth the money!

Im only rating it low to draw attention to the fact that you need to update the app for the retina display! INCLUDING THE ICON!!! Fix the icon and I would give the app a 5!
